I was looking for a new stylist after being with mine for 12+ years. I read the reviews on CitySearch, chose Samuel Cole based on the reviews. I called up and requested Jess, Britt, or Erin!! Receptionist was VERY nice, both on the phone and in person. Jess had a cancellation and I was in two days later. I told her what my issues were with my hair, what I didn't like, what I needed based on my lifestyle etc. She listened and I left with a FANTASTIC color and cut. Jess spent a LOT of time with the cut and style. I was impressed!! When I came in I had frumpy Mommy hair and when I left I had movie star hair. Thanks, Jess!!!! I will be back!!! :-)
Pros: Well-trained stylists who listen to what you need/want!
Cons: None!

Britt is WONDERFUL! She is a true artist. I've never been happier with the color of my hair! I only had a general idea of what I wanted but she talked with me and told me what she thought would look best and she did an incredible job. After trying many, many salons in the area and not finding one I really liked, I was nervous about trying this one just 2 weeks before my wedding. I am so glad I did! My fiance also got his hair cut with Erin and she did a wonderful job! We will definitely be back. Not only are Britt and Erin very talented, but they're so nice! All in all, a perfect visit.
Pros: the talented stylists, relaxing experience
Cons: price, but you get what you pay for

I signed up for Citysearch soley to tell others about my amazing experience at Samuel Cole. My stylist Yvette transformed my monotone, brassy hair into a beautiful, dimensional head of highlights. Yvette is very sweet AND one of the best colorists I have ever seen. She is so easy to talk to, gives honest adivce and works magic with color! Everyone from the front desk staff, to the owners Jack and Joelle, to my stylist were an A+ in every way. I could not have been more impressed or happy. If you are you looking for a wonderful salon -go to Samuel Cole. I am so glad I did. I absolutely love my new look and the great comments from friends/family about my new hair!!
Pros: A+ = SC!
Cons: None

I have to say that this is by far the BEST salon that I have been to. Everyone was so friendly! Nicole gave me the best haircut that I have ever had! The complimentary paraffan hand wax was a nice touch. If you are looking for a new place to get your hair done, you won't go wrong visiting Samule Cole!!

The outside is not what makes the salon....no one (business or individual) wants to be judged solely one the outward appearence. Sure they don't have big flashy signs or whatever else you expect to see but look around them...the rest of the stores in that location look the same....it's probably manditory for them to keep their store front looking similar to the rest. I've always been so happy with my hair and the the experience and yes sometimes something may not be 100%, but chances are you'll get that at any other salon and may get even less for your buck.

First of all, the salon looks terrible from outside. Lights are broken and it looks really run down. When you get inside, it's beautiful. My appointment was in the evening and you could tell everyone wanted to go home. The receptionist was cleaning up and ignored me a bit, then chatted to the stylists about leaving. My stylist kept talking about leaving; couldn't wait to get out of there. The other stylist there swept the floor and complained a bit while I was there. My haircut turned out okay - it was hard to style and overall I wasn't that pleased with it. It was expensive for the service and style I received and they also wouldn't accept tips on a credit card which made it difficult for me to leave one since i didn't know that before coming. From what i saw, it seemed like a bunch of young girls, newly licensed, in need of some management.

I had a cut and color done at Samuel Cole and really enjoyed the experience. Jessica was awesome; a great conversationalist and did a very nice job on my hair. I loved the fact that she informed me of what she used on my hair, but didn't try and strongarm me into making a purchase. Overall the service was fantastic. The majority of the staff seemed wonderful. I was promptly offered a drink when I arrived, and I received lots of smiles and "hellos" from staff members as they walked by. I thought that was a really nice touch because it revealed the overall positive vibe of the salon, and generated a lot of goodwill, in my opinion. The one big turn-off for me (and I've been there twice now) was one of the receptionists. I don't know her name, though I do know that she worked on a Thursday and on a Saturday, has dark brownish/reddish hair and really fair skin (possibly some light freckles). I wanted her to fit with the whole service package at Samuel Cole, but she really didn't. She was a total grouch and hardly cracked a smile. I even tried to chat her up a little and received a stone-faced, unamused look in return. She's the last person I would have in the hotseat (greeting clients) of my business. She looks great, but her attitude was so unattractive that it made her stick out like a sore thumb in a place that prides itself on service. I don't know that she'll keep me from going back, since she's not the one actually doing my hair, but she'll certainly keep me from rating the salon higher or feeling as though my experience was 100%. In a service industry, there is no excuse for a receptionist acting this way. Perhaps if she worked for a television network or Vogue in NYC, I may be able to tolerate her elitist behavior. Rudeness is expected out of those types, but not a hair salon in Raleigh, NC. That just left a bad taste in my mouth. Everything else was top-notch, however, and the owner, Jack, seemed awesome.
Pros: nice atmosphere, mostly professional and service-oriented staff, friendly and ultra-competent stylist (Jessica), 45.00 for a haircut and style, and great drink choices!
Cons: rude, snooty receptionist and uncomfortable sinks

Had a trim here while I was growing my hair out from a super short cut somewhere else. They were fine, trimmed and shaped. Then after it grew out I decided to actually see about a consult for actual design. Left two messages, they never returned the call. Oh well.

Dear Fellow Beauty Queens, I love having good hair. I am always looking for a salon i can call home. I found it (But you know what is even harder is to find a colorist that gets it ! ) YVETTE CANNAS IS A GODDESS FROM HAIR COLOR HEAVEN!!! She is quick, has a stellar skill, understood what color i wanted and gave me a rocking red color to beat the band and now i am hooked. I have this multi-dimensional shade that almost got me in a car accident on the ride home cause i could not stop staring at my hair color. So, ladies----if you want service. Rock star hair and a color that has people stopping you all the time. Book your color appointment with Yvette. She colored my world......and i love it and her. Lots of Thanks to Samuel Cole for hiring her! Tiffany xoxo

This was the best experience I have had at a salon in years. I was a little nervous because I had not changed hairstylists in over 10 years. My anxiety was put to ease as soon as I walked in the door. The staff at the front were so professional and extremely friendly. I was asked for a drink and was told that my hairstylist would be with me shortly. I met Erin (my hairstylist) and she was so professional, friendly and beautiful on the inside and out. I felt like I had known her forever. She went through a thorough consultation with me about what I wanted to do with my hair and gave me her advice and opinions as well. It was great to see someone with so much enthusiasm. I told her to go ahead with the color and cut she thought was best for my skin tone and facial shape. She went with it and spent the most time anyone has ever spent on my hair. It turned out gorgeous!!!! I can't say enough about what a wonderful hairstylist Erin is and what a wonderful experience I had at Samuel Cole. You just have to go and see. It is sooo worth it!!!
