The Little Gym has a pretty friendly staff and the kids always seem to be enjoying themselves. I have seen a lot of growth with motor skills and confidence in my son who's not even 3 yet. Sometimes it seems like the children are just playing around, but I think they work on important skills. Even just listening, following directions, or learning about teamwork. Yay Little Gym!
Pros: Friendly staff, overall good value program, PARENT SURVIVAL NIGHT/CAMPS
Cons: Facility is a bit old (but it stays pretty clean considering all the children)

Every time that I have come into The Little Gym in Raleigh I am welcomed by the staff. They are warm and friendly and have a genuine love for children. My child has grown so much while attending The Little Gym. She has physically become so much more coordinated and confident. While she was once a shy child who was afraid to try new things, she is now attempting things inside and outside of the gym that I never thought she would. The instructors have been so patient and nurturing with her every step of the way. We have been to many gymnastics programs in the Triangle, and The Little Gym is by far the best. I was initially impressed at the curriculum that was written for all of their programs, and my impression grew when I saw how much my child was learning by such loving teachers. I highly recommend this program!
Pros: The friendly and knowlegable staff, curriculum
Cons: older facility, but I heard they were moving soon.

The Little Gym has been around a long time. We used to take the kids there a lot, and it was nice for them to play in a supervised environment. Sometimes they can learn new things and they're really excited, other times it can be advanced babysitting, it all varies with the instructor at the time and the experience levels of the kids that are there that day -- typical of any place. The staff tends to be nice, but like anyone there can be personality issues or bad days. Now that the kids are a little older, they' have gym in school and they're taking real ballet and dance lessons from a professional instructor at Explore! Beyond School pretty much just down the street. There are lots of place for the kids to have fun around Raleigh (and learn something at the same time), and the Little Gym is a good choice for the younger ones.
Pros: Convenient N. Raleigh location, fun for the kids
Cons: They don't always learn that much

The Little Gym is not a serious gymnastics place. The often very young coaches, mostly never spot my children during tumbling excercises. So for months, my kids just practice cartwheels on the floor with no spotter. They are spotted on the bars and beam. But their progress is very slow on the floor. I think I will move the kids to GymCarolina where there is more hands-on instruction and techniques more sophisticated. The dance classes are not taught by a "real" dancer. A couple times, when I sit and watch the kids practicing, I heard the girls behind the desk gossiping. Some of the staff I am very comfortable with. Dave is very good. Some of the staff I am a touch uncomfortable with. Some children do benefit from this fun environment, my main reason for going here was the convenience.
Pros: fun
Cons: does not use professional coaches

This Little Gym location used to have a wonderful reputation and they lived up to it. Now, they seem to have gone downhill a bit. Some days, everyone there is cheerful and fun--other days, they are rude to parents and have even been unsympathetic to the kids. It is definitely more suited to younger children. If you want fun and more concentrated gymnastics for 4 or 5 year olds and up, try Kenneys.
Pros: Heather
Cons: Staff can be rude to parents
