User Reviews for Frances T. King Stationery

I went into Frances T. King Stationary to purchase a gift having been there in the past and knowing they carry good quality, unique stationary and gift items. The expirience I had in the store, however, was enough to make me take my business elsewhere. I was the only customer in the store at the time, but the two young ladies behind the counter just pointed me to a corner and returned to their conversation. They were speaking very loudly, making fun of customers and what not, which made me uncomfortable enough to leave. This is a great store, but the owner really needs to work on hiring more customer service oriented staff.

Pros: unique products

Cons: rude staff

I went in search of fine stationary because I had a very important letter to write. I live near Cameron Village so Frances King Stationary was convenient for me but I had stopped going there several years ago because I thought the service was not good, or friendly. Since I was short on time, I thought I'd just "gut it out" this time and get what I needed. I knew they'd have the quality I need, even though I wasn't going to hold my breath for the red carpet treatment. To my surprise, the sales staff was super helpful and very pleasant, while giving me the space to ponder my "fine paper needs." I learned that there was a new owner with new staff and I found the entire experience very positive. Yes, they do have a lot of items packed in a small space but I appreciated having a selection. I purchased everything I needed and had no issue paying for the quality of the items I selected. Now I just have to start writing!!!!!!!

Pros: parking, staff, variety, quality

Cons: a bit crowded but not bad

I have been shopping at Frances King for over a decade, only because they used to be one of the few stores to stock top notch stationery. However, now that the Triangle has other stationers that carry quality papers, I avoid Frances King because the staff is incredibly snobby - even when you are placing/picking up an expensive order. The store is often poorly merchandised, with almost no room to walk. (It's amazing how many baskets of cocktail napkins can fit in one small space!) As another reviewer mentioned, the staff is always involved in lenghtly personal chats, and often do not even acknowledge the presence of customers. Overall, you get the feeling they do not want or need your business - so why give it to them?

Cons: Snooty, disinterested staff

I have been shopping at Frances King for years, and I am always pleased with the service, products and the personality of all the girls that work there. I would highly recommend Frances King to everyone in the triangle.

The staff at Frances T. King always has been polite and wonderfully informed about the merchandise carried in the store. The paper products are exceptional, and the gifts are lovely.

Pros: Staff, Merchandise

Seriously, this is the snobbiest store in all of Cameron Village, which is really saying something. Maybe it was just the time that I went in, but I was totally ignored and then spoken to rudely when I went in to pick up a (hideous) item that a friend had on hold. The salespeople were all standing around chatting with each other and acted put off to have to help me. I'm an adult with a fairly preppy look and usually don't have this kind of response in Cameron Village stores. I didn't look around for long, but it looked like your typical upscale stationary shop.

Cons: , over-priced
