Great down home BBQ

First thing's first; the BBQ is fabulous. Finely chopped, perfectly seasoned, delightfully tender. It's the best I've had since moving down here 8 months ago. A previous reviewer that gave this place 1 star obviously has no clue what Eastern NC BBQ is all about. If you are unfamiliar with this style of BBQ, do a bit of research. You won't find "K.C. Masterpiece" sauce on our tables down here. Cider vinegar, some ceyenne and red pepper flakes - this is our sauce. The sides are pretty good too. I love the puppies, love the slaw. I will agree that the "corn sticks" are kind of gross...they're just too thin, and don't taste like cornbread. The atmosphere is like a rural Knights of Columbus/Mosse Lodge/Chuch basement banquet hall with some decorative pigs thrown in the mix. It's a family BBQ joint, not Morton's. Your waitress will probably call you "Hun" or "Sugar". You seat yourself. Food arrives quickly, served on blue plastic plates circa 1973. Order the sweet tea and you get your own pitcher for refills. Serving sizes are on the large size. I get the small BBQ plate, and I'm a big guy - can barely finish. The large plate would be plenty for 2. Prices are reasonable and in-line with other BBQ joints.

Pros: Great BBQ

Cons: None
