i want to start off with the comment left below. I am SO AMAZED THAT YOU SIT THERE SAYING OUR PETS ARE OUR FAMILY AND YOU WANT THE BEST CARE FOR THEM ...then you go and get your cat DECLAWED. who are you to do that. god didnt put them on this earth to have their nails ripped out. you seem like you have high standards that even you cant handle. so you put the responsability on everyone else. well come back down from your cloud and back to reality. I would never leave my dog/cat at a vet for however many days "so they get the best care" bulls***! As for this hospital i have been to 3 vets down here. my dog started limping so i rushed her to quails corners. well the doctor had no idea what he was doing... i ordered for x-rays because i wanted to make sure everything was ok. first it was one thing then another. then he tells us to get a second opinion...um hello. where did you get your license from? then i went to this place in wake forest that was RAVED ABOUT. I FORGOT THE NAME BUT THEY DONT EXCEPT CREDIT CARDS. WELL THIS GUY COMES IN THROwS MY DOG ON THE TABLE.. TELLS ME WHATS WRONG WITH HER... THEN IS ABOUT TO GIVE HER A SHOT WITHOUT TELLING ME WHAT IT WAS. I STOPPED HIM AND ASKED WHAT ARE YOU DOING.. HE STOPS AND SAYS IM GIVING HER A THORIZINE SHOT(CANT SPELL IT) TO STOP THE SWELLING... NOW CAN I GO BACK TO PLAYING DOCTOR(YOU CAN IMAGINE MY RESPONSE) I WAS SO UPSET i searched again hoping to find a vet to take care of her. i came across magnolia animal hospital. never in my life came aross such a wonderful doctor(Dr. Jon) hes awesome.he takes care of both my dogs now. my dog recently got spayed by him and she came back home and slept for a day .. then acted like herself the next. i couldnt believe it. they did an awesome job. finding a good vet is hard.and if you want a doctor that cares and knows what hes doing GO HERE. for everyone else who declaws their cats and then leaves them at the vet "to have the best care" go to quail corners.

Pros: wont find another doctor like him.and they email you reminders

Cons: none

Being a discernable pet owner, I started taking my pets to Magnolia Hospital after reading such fantastic reviews. The first few years taking my animals to this vets was a very exceptional experience. The front staff were friendly and well trained and the veterinarians really seemed to know their stuff. That pretty much came to a screeching halt this past year. First of all, I brought my cat in for his 3 year rabies shot only to find out that they gave him a one year shot (not what I had asked for). Secondly, I recently had to put another cat down. This was quite a traumatic experience for me and you would think a good animal hospital would have the good sense to show some compassion. This definitely was not the case. When I first went into the vets the receptionist was going to take me down to an examination room. I had to inform her that my cat was being put down. She admitted not reading the chart. When I went back a few days later to pick up the ashes, I had to wait in the lobby for 10 minutes being totally ignored. When finally someone waited on me, they were going to charge me for a second time for the cremation. The receptionist also handed me the ashes without even an "I'm so sorry for you loss...if you ever need anything, let us know." I mean good God, I just lost a part of my family and they didn't even acted as if they cared! Personally, I am not going to patron an animal clinic that doesn't treat their clientelle with respect, dignity, or compassion! Please just pass this animal hospital by. They may have been fantastic before, but they are slowly going down hill fast. If I could rate them with 0 stars, beleive me, I would.

My first experience with Magnolia Animal Hospital was great although it was over two years ago. Expecting the same quality and care, I decided to bring my new cat for a visit based on my first experience, but I guess that was great expectations on my part. I dropped my cat off for his neuter and declaw procedure on May 27, 2008. I boarded my cat through June 3, 2008, because I wanted him to have the best care and supervision during his time of healing. When I picked him up the staff told me everything was great, my cat was adorable, and that I was all set. You would think that after hearing all of these great comments and having your cat cared for, a week longer than required, you wouldn’t have a lot of reasons to be concerned about your cat’s health. Well, I came home with my cat, and his front right paw was split open just waiting for infection to set in. How come no one noticed this or informed me of this? Anyway, I took my cat to a different hospital this morning where I’m sure he’ll get the treatment he should have had the first time. There are a few other comments I could make about this experience, but that would be overkill. For a lot of us, our pets are our kids and I just wanted to alert anyone considering taking their kid too Magnolia Animal Hospital, to think long and hard about their decision.

I have been going to Magnolia animal since May 1999 shortly after they opened. We've been there longer then most or almost the entire staff excluding Dr. Jon. With Dr. Jon, the vet techs, kennel and office staff I have always had a great experience with them and so has my animals. I've referred him to many people. Dr. Jon loves his job and is devoted. He is practical and does what he feels is in the best interest of your "family member" but is considerate of the owners feelings as well. His staff is wonderful. I never have to worry if I have a concern they will have Dr. Jon call back or get me in to see him. I have had many animals through the years 3 dogs, 3 horses and a cat. Dr. Jon is the first vet I came to when I moved to Raleigh and I was impressed with him and Nikki for their love of animals. Dr. Jon will get on the floor and sit with your dog and respect their personalities as well. He is the first vet I have known to do this. My animals love going there. I say to them "Do you want to go see Dr. Jon" immediately the dogs are at the door waiting to go for a ride. They run in there with their tails wagging. The staff knows your animals name. (Especially if you have to go there often). I give Magnolia a five star because I have been there almost 10 yrs and Dr. Jon's philosophy and dedication is what makes this place a wonderful place to go. Also, the dogs and cat love to stay there in the kennel. I consider the staff part of our family because they know our animals so well. There are other vets there working with Dr. Jon as well. Thanks for being so wonderful to our family.

Pros: Kennel pick up on sunday, hours, dedication, exam rooms always clean

Cons: none

We started taking our cats to Magnolia in 2004 after reading such great online reviews. The vet staff is great. Very knowledgeable. We have had two cats die of FIP and the staff were very helpful and caring. They sent us cards with signatures and notes from all the staff. I never have trouble making an appointment however, I haven't seen Dr. Jon in over a year. I'm not saying he isn't available but I think he's in high demand. Dr. Stephanie and Dr. Allison are great too! The only reason why I gave four stars instead of five is because of the innefficient office staff. Too often I have taken one pet in for a shot or an exam and then a month later I get a notice that the same pet or another of my pets is due for another shot. The exam isn't expensive but if you have multiple animals and you are constantly taking them to the vet, it adds up. It might be due to high turnover. I hardly see the same office help more than twice. I will keep going to Magnolia because like I said, the vets are great, but I'm still going to bring up my dissatisfaction every time I have to bring in my pets repeatedly.

Pros: Great vets, reasonably priced

Cons: inefficient office staff, no late-night emergency care

We had been taking our basset hound, Fred to Dr. Jon and his staff for 7 years. From the first day we walked in, we felt like we were family. The time came to put Fred down this past week, and we have never seen a more caring group, that cared so much for the comfort and well-being of a pet and their family as dr. Jon and his staff were. For a procedure that would normally take a few minutes, took well over an hour, as it was of the utmost importance that Fred be as comfortable as possible in his last moments. During this time, not once did Dr. Jon leave the room (Which was as nice of an atmosphere you could have for putting a family member to sleep). After the procedure was complete, Dr. Jon hugged both my wife and I, and told us to take as much time as needed to say our goodbye's. A week has passed, and we received a card in the mail. Inside the card did not only did the entire staff sign the card, but they also said a few words in Fred's honor. This meant so much to us, more than words can say. We intend to adopt another dog soon, and will return to Magnolia Animal Hospital, as you could not ask more from a Veterinarian's office.

Pros: Super-Friendly Staff, make you feel at home

Cons: None whatsoever

We have Maltese and have been using Magnolia Animal Hospital for a while now. This past summer Happy (one of our girls) suddenly started acting weird and had bruises all over her. We immediately took her in and they did bloodwork on her and Dr Stephanie said it was more than likely her platelets counts were low and she would know that afternoon. Sure enough Dr Stephanie called and that was the problem, they were down to 300 and she was surprise she wasn't bleeding from her gums. She immediately got on meds and Dr S called again to check on her later that week and we made an appointment for more bloodwork in a couple weeks. Thank goodess it was resolved quickly, although Happy was acting like her normal self we knew the brusing was a sign of something wrong and Magnolia was able to see her that same day. My parents also use them and love them!! Thanks Dr Stephanie Happy will see you in February for her 1st teeth cleaning - if you need to get yours ogs teeth done do it in February as it's Dental month and you get 20% off, they are getting booked up fast though! - Cindy Visit my website at - www.formc dot com if you need pet sitting services

Pros: Cleanliness, Friendly Staff, Plenty of Parking, Low Cost, Wonderful DOCS!

I have had several animals and several vets. Not completely satisified with any of them. My son had taken his big old Rottwheiler to Magnolia and was very pleased. I decided I would give them a try when the time came for my little min pinschers (Gigi) next visit. Well it came sooner then later. She was very sick and dehydrated so I called and they got us in immediately even though she had never been seen here. They took very good care of both of us. The whole staff was very helpful and caring. They let me know exactly what was going on, why they were doing what they were doing. Dr. Allison was EXCELLENT. I carried my dog in and she walked out an hour later. The cost was surprisingly low for this emergency. Then to top it off, I got a call from the doctor to see how she was doing the next day. Then Gigi even got a little post card in the mail. HOW COOL! Their motto is they care for our animal as if it is their own. This is very true! Highly recommend them to anyone.

Pros: All Pros

Cons: No cons

We had used several local vets since moving to Raleigh from CA, and after visiting Magnolia Animal Hospital, our search was over. The entire staff has always been caring and ensures that our pets' needs are well met. All of our dogs' care has been entrusted to Magnolia, as well as the occasional boarding. After the passing of our oldest dog, we received several communications from the entire staff at Magnolia, which we will always remember. Visit the facilities and ask questions. I hope you will find them as helpful as we have.

Pros: Large, clean facilities.

Cons: No late-night emergency services on site.

We have a dog and a cat, and after visiting vets in TX, MA, and NC, Magnolia is HANDS DOWN the best. Dr. Jon and staff really care about the pets they treat and make a point to get to know their humans too. On a recent visit I mentioned to the staff that my husband and I had adopted a child, and what did I get in the mail two days later? A congratulatory card from Magnolia. Our pets are members of our family, and when it comes to their care, there is no one I have more confidence and trust in than the staff at Magnolia.

Pros: everything except location

Cons: Capital Blvd is a pain to drive, but worth it for Magnolia!
