Check out the up-and-comers on the local and national music scene. Low cover charges get you in the door and excellent music keeps you there.

This is easily my favorite bar in Raleighheck, in the entire Triangle area. The atmosphere is excellent, the location is great, and the staff and management is top notch. They charge $3.50 for 22 of their pints (the same price they have been charging since opening in July, 1998) and $4.25 for the other 8 (which are well worth the price). The live music they bring in is excellent and represents a variety of styles. And the bands get all the money from the door and decide what to charge (The Pour House doesnt add to the cover). Among some of their specials is mug night on Wednesdays. You buy a 34 oz mug for $4 (you only have to buy it once and bring it back each week) and pay $3 to fill it up (no cover if you arrive before 9:30). This is the best place in town!
Pros: Great Beer, Great Environment, Great Music

The Pour House serves its place in the local music scene well, but it is definitely NOT my favorite place in the TRIANGLE!!! The previous reviewer seems to know an awful lot of info about prices, dates, sizes etc... THE SKINNY: The Pour House is a decent place for a variety of original live music, the service can be slow at times, great selection of draft beers, parking can be difficult and that's about it!
Pros: decent bands, tons of draft beers!
Cons: , difficult parking

I thought I should redeem the pour house's reputation because of the confused drunken guy from the previous comment that was better of in one of the pseudo-high society bars in cary --- beer snobs in pour house? how laughable.. The fact is, Pour house is a perfect combination of good beer, good prices, and good music. there's really nothing to complain about, and they have great specials throughout the week -- How about mug night?? gotta love massive beers for $2, especially when it's Sierra Nevada pale ale , ummmm yummmy. Pour house is the only place I'll go in raleigh, and I'd recommend it to all --- and if you've been lately, it seems the regulars agree with me because it's usually pretty busy.. Enjoy it folks, I'm out. P-dogg

Sorry to say... but I did not enjoy my night at Poor House. 10 of us ventured out there for a night - only to have to wait to be served for-ever. Then the servers were rude and did not want to answer a couple quick questions about the types of beers! I am really into my beers and we were all willing to spend lots of time and money on beer - especially since the music was not keeping our attention long enough to want to take a break and not drink! It was a lousy night, with lousy service. Perhaps the moon and stars where postitioned right but unfortunately we will not be returning for a second chance!
Pros: Lots of choice beer
Cons: BAD SERVICE, SLOW SERVICE, BAD MUSIC

Great Beer selection! Great bands and neat atmosphere. Nice place to grab a beer and relax, even before the music gets started.
Pros: staff/owner, great music
Cons: parking

I've been to way too many bars/clubs in Raleigh. By and far the Pour House is my favorite place to go if I'm just going out to have a good night with some friends. I've run into several amazing bands, cool bartenders and very kind people there. The atmosphere is very laid back and more often than not the people, at least downstairs, are all really cool. I'm not quite as keen on the pool table area, but hey, to each his own. See you all there tonight with a giant mug!!!
Pros: wed. night mug night!, awesome atmosphere, great bands
Cons: covers.
