User Reviews for UNC Finley Golf Course | Golf Course Chapel Hill Raleigh North Carolina

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I'm a senior and to play Finley, i pay $30 to walk, which is fantastic, and i wouldn't think of going anywhere else... The course is too fantastic for any words that i can come up with, impecable fairways, great - filled bunkers, tee boxes could use some work in areas, greens that are always well maintained, and the staff, and weather, are allways VERY friendly and will give you an experiance you will always remember. If you live in the triangle and haven't played Finley, you have NO idea what you're missing!!! COME PLAY UNC FINLEY!!!

Pros: fairways, greens, bunkers, staff, and just about everything else

Cons: SOME tee boxes could use better upkeep, but it doesn't matter all that much

If you have not played UNC Finley, and you appreciate excellent golf I recommend playing here. Typical Fazio design, wide fairways that are groomed perfectly, large rolling greens that are as quick as lightning, but true. I Love finley!

I moved down to NC more than 2 years ago and have played countless courses here in the Triangle and Pinehurst area and continue to go back to Finley over and over again. This course is in great shape, it's fun and it's challenging. Although Finley has a nice price tag on the green fees, it's by far my favorite course to play down here and would recommend anyone and everyone who enjoys hitting the links to play Finley.

I have played golf all over the state and it is great to know that one of our best courses is right here in Chapel Hill. Finely has the feel of Augusta. No homes, just beautiful looking fairways and greens decorated with natural flowers.

Pros: Condition, Greens, Fairways

Come on, we are in NC, no public course should be this much, especially a University course subsidized by a VERY wealthy alumni. Great layout and condition however.

Pros: great greens, overall condition, layout

Cons: PRICE, PRICE, PRICE

Finley is one of the top courses in the state of North Carolina. it provides a challenging layout and is a fair course for beginners and a challenge to advanced players. The water hazards add to a beautiful layout. i would like to see the 18 hole become more of a signature hole with water, fountain, etc.

Pros: excellent greens, friendly staff, challenging

Cons: not crowded

Finley is probably at the top of its game right now for a course that is still relatively maturing. The Greens Keeper is doing an outstanding job and should be given a raise for his work.

Pros: easy access, hospitality, well-groomed

I played Finley for the first time a few months ago, and truly loved the experience. The course was recently redesigned by the same group who worked on Augusta, and the attention to aesthetics is tremendous. It is easily the most picturesque course in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. The price is comparable to others i've seen across the state (maybe a little on the higher side for public courses) and it cal play more difficult than others. But when the weather is beautiful, and one's game is on, its a great place to be.

Pros: picturesque

Revamped greens feature rolling mounds, Colonial-style clubhouse, driving range and a challenging 18-hole course in heart of the Triangle.  See the full editorial review.
