Mizu is like a diamond in the rough, small and barely visible but with food, ambience and hospitality so good you can actually feel the chef's love of cooking. Their seabass is something that makes me crave and want to go back every chance I get. Me and my son drive 25 minutes just to eat at Mizu. I also like their appetizer called sunumono which is a seafood salad and their ice cream dessert that is rolled on a rice cake. I hope they open one in Brier Creek. This restaurant is one of a kind, the people are very jolly, entertaining and the owners very humble and low key. I am too busy to cook so I eat out a lot. Mizu is definitely one of a kind for the Triangle area.

Pros: Great taste, wholesome food, plenty of parking, cheerful and efficient service, great value!

Cons: Location far from Brier Creek

When you enter, warm welcomes are your greeting. it is a small place, but well-decorated, with a big sushi bar. Watch the "train" of sushi go by, and pick your favorite a la carte sushi for an appetizer while you order. It may not be on the menu, but try the Sweet Dream Roll for flavor on top of flavor! All the sushi is fresh, well porportioned and made by experienced sushi-chefs. The wait staff are usually on top of their game, and keep your glass filled and your entrees coming to you on time. I've never had a lengthy wait, either for a table or for food, and I've always enjoyed the food, especially the $10 filet mignon LUNCH special. Great people, food and service - what all of us in North Raleigh and Wake Forest want!

Pros: Sweet Dream ROll and the train!

Cons: Can't think of a one!

My family and I went to this restaurant based on what we read on this website. It was a bit hard to find, but was easy to get a seat at 5:30 on a Sunday. We were promptly greeted, and beverages were brought out just as promptly. We ordered a mixture of appitizers (edamame, gyozo, crab miso soup), 4 various rolls of their speciality sushi, and entree's of the Soy-Ginger Bass, and the Tempura Udon. Though the place wasn't very busy, and 2 people were making sushi at the bar, it took about 30min for the rolls to come out. The plus side was, the hot food arrived at the table at the same exact time. That is rare and impressive in a sushi restaurant. The service was good. It seems like every server had refilled our drinks atleast once, and no member of the party had an empty drink for longer than a minute or two. I would come back again for the Soy Ginger Bass alone. It was absolutely fenomenal. It had an amazing flavor, wasn't the least bit "fishy", and had a simple, but well done presentation. There Udon was good as well, but the Tempora was a bit oily. The sushi was very enjoyable, but the Bass was definately the highlight of the table. I would probrably recommend making a reservation, as there are less than 100 seats there, and they will probrably fill up quick if their food remains consistent with the experience we had this evening. Note: My 18 month old daughter was fasinated with the train track that went around the sushi bar that carried various plates on it, and wanted to touch the thing the entire evening. I'm a big kid, I wanted to play with it too.

Pros: Soy Ginger Bass (surprise!), and the train track

Cons: Temperature was a bit warm for my taste.

I live in Benson,NC and travel to Mizu's to get great sushi. Being japanese, I do know my taste in sushi. I recommend the Bento Box for the first timers, it kinda gives you a little taste of everything. They give you plenty of food for a great value!

Mizu was a delight for the whole family. We went to Mizu for the first time in July of 07 and from there I was hooked. The next week I had to take my co-workers so they could see this place. At first I was a little worried about the size of the place but soon after I entered I was greeted and seated in a timely fashion. The tables were adorned with candles which was nice but I was not worried about a romantic time since I was dining alone. lol Well I first had the Mary roll with a side of Ika. I spoke with the sushi chef Yoshi for several minutes while he prepared my roll. This was refreshing to know that my chef was actually from Tokyo. I watched him like a hawk waiting for the first mistake but to my delight everything was perfectly crafted. Later when I sat down the manager came over to see how everything was and recommended the Oozy roll. Well all I can say to her now is THANK YOU. The Oozy roll has now become 1 of my top 5 rolls ever and Se always knows what I want as soon as I walk in the door. Sorry back to the review I got side tracked and a little hungry just thinking about it. So I finished my first meal there and I was like a fish on a hook. After bringing in my co-workers we have made this small restaurant our official healthy lunch destination. A few weeks later I took my wife and 2 children but was very worried if the kids would like the food. To my astonishment the children lapped up every bite of there meals and even dared to try my Oozy roll. So now I have created another sushi fiend. lol Well the kids were very curious about the train and excited everytime it rounded the bar and the waitstaff was very patient with them and recommended a few items one of which was the edemame. They had a blast popping those peas from their shell and I admit it was fun for me too. All I can say is if you love sushi as much as I do then you need to try this place it is a gem well hidden in the growth of Raleigh.

Pros: wonderful quaint experience, helpful and courteous waitstaff and management and the food OOZY Roll

Cons: closed for lunch on Sunday.

After reading the glowing reviews so far I have to wonder which Mizu they went to, because the one I went to at the exact same address was nothing like that. The first time we went we were 2 of perhaps 6 or 7 people waiting on the hostess to seat us. There were plenty of open tables and seats at the sushi bar, yet minute after minute passed while this girl zipped around the place like a lost neutron as if she were in charge of the lifeboats on the Titanic. She never acknowledged any of us. It wasn't until my girlfreind politely asked her if she could seat us, this was after a brief exhange with other patrons sharing our confusion and frustration, that the hostess said to her "I'll be right with you" and vanished again. Another eternity passes, two people walked out, and we were about to do the same, when she finally decided to announce to us that there were no seats available at the moment. After we picked our jaws up off the floor we asked about all the open tables, she said they were reserved. We walked out in disgust. I'm sorry but that kind of stupidity is unforgiveable. However, amazingly, and due to the dearth of sushi places in the area, several weeks later we decided to try one more time, thinking perhaps they were just having a bad night that first time. Well this time we were actually seated, which upped their credibility a few points, and astonishingly received food shortly thereafter. It was awful. As sushi goes it was mediocre at best. The waiter, while running on a slightly richer mix than the hostess, was still not that sharp. Brought the wrong thing out, and had to be asked to refill drinks. Who owns this place? A Japanese Wile E. Coyote? Not worth the hype, the incompetant staff, or the price. Stay away from this place,

Pros: Nice decor, cute train on the sushi bar.

Cons: useless staff, food not worth it.

My wife and I went to Mizu on a Wednesday night to celebrate our anniversary. The place was about 1/3 full, but it still took our server 15 minutes to introduce herself and pour our water. One good thing - the 15 minute wait gave me an opportunity to observe the yellowing sushi on the train. The food was ok, but Waraji in Raleigh was much better.

Pros: Parking

Cons: Poor service, questionable sushi
