I love twisted noodle!!! It is in a strip mall off university drive but the food is wonderful. I can't say its the "most authentic," since I don't know what authentic is, but it is highly delicious. I only wish they wouldn't serve Pepsi products-blah! try the fried tofu. Yum. Also they have the most wonderful tropical fish tank which I could look at for hours, with anemones and Nemo and Dory swimming around! Awesome. I've been like 5 times
Pros: delicious, convenient, cheap
Cons: closed in afternoon on weekedays

I have been on the hunt for great noodles in this area and these are the best noodles around. I have been to Thailand and had authentic Thai food, and this is the closest I have had in this area. It is especially difficult to get great soup noodles - the Tom Yum Chili Oil noodles were the right amount of spiciness and were also very flavorful. You could taste the lemon grass and other spices in the broth. Even the water had a splash of lemon in it. The portion sizes are very generous at very reasonable prices. This place has really improved through the years. I also had the Mango Sticky Rice - one of the few places that I could find this delicious dessert in this area.
Pros: authentic food, very fragrant and flavorful, reasonably priced
Cons: wish I had discovered this sooner

This place was recommended to me by a Thai friend of mine as having the most authentic Thai food in the Triangle. Although no expert on authentic Thai food myself, I was more than impressed my personal favorite dishes. I am always on the lookout for a good Pad See Euw and their version did not disappoint. It is the best that you can get in Durham, for sure. I have since had several other items such as Pad Thai, Green Curry, Penang Curry, and Tom Kha soup and they have all been excellent. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the food is spectacular.
Pros: Large, diverse menu
Cons: Atmosphere not great

The Twisted Noodles restaurant is located in a small strip-mall off of University Drive. My wife and I stopped by for lunch at noon on a Friday. The restaurant appeared to be about 3/4 full but the noise level was quite low. We were quickly seated but there was a 10+ minute wait for a server to take our order. While waiting, we noted that the interior of the restaurant was very basic, far from fancy, but clean. The food arrived within 7 minutes and the waiter stopped by every 5 minutes or so to check on our drinks etc. The "house special" BBQ Pork (Grilled pork slices on a bed of fresh lettuce served with spicy lime sauce) was pretty tasty but the pork was a little dry. The Drunken Noodles (Thick rice noodles with bamboo, onion, green beans, tomato, fresh Thai basil & chili and choice of meat) were fantastic and definitely worthy of a repeat order. The balance of the heat and flavor was great as was the freshness of the vegetables. We will certainly return soon to sample more of their menu and recommend Twisted Noodles to all of our friends that have been searching for a really nice Thai restaurant in the Durham area.
Pros: Good, authentic Thai food prepared quickly for a fair price.
Cons: Waitstaff was slow to take our order. Ambiance was a little lackluster.

Stumbled into this place by accident. It is above and beyond the average US Thai restaurant, and rivals the best I've had --- even after living in Thailand! I had the curried noodles - which were fantastic! The pad pet was also amazing. The staff was great. Always on the lookout for great Thai food, this is my new all time favorite. I'll come here whenever I'm in Durham.
Pros: Nice. Quiet. Excellent food.
Cons: The people at the next table in the middle of a family fight!!

This place is a hidden gem! Every once in a while, I'll start to have my chicken green curry craving and in the past, I would dream lovingly of a little place in Charlotte. Then I found Twisted Noodle. The green curry is fabulous, the Tom Kah is the best I've ever had and their Mango Sticky Rice is the perfect way to end the meal. The staff is courteous and lovely and they have a fish tank in the restaurant that seems to include the entire cast of Finding Nemo. The decor is spartan but comfortable and their prices are more than reasonable. If you crave Thai food, give this place a try! You won't be disappointed!
Pros: Price, Service, Fresh Ingredients
Cons: Bland Decor

After reading the great review of this place in the N&O, I decided to go their for lunch with some coworkers. While the atmosphere is only so -so, the food more than makes up for it. I had drunken noodles (it came with choice of soup or salad) which were delicious. So many flavors in it and a pretty reasonable $7.95. (I think dinner is a little more per entree.) My companions liked their pad thai. The waiter was very friendly too. I'm looking forward to going back again. Do note that it can be sort of hard to find. It's in a strip mall behind Target near Saladelia (which is also a great restaurant).
Pros: Great food
Cons: Not the greatest atmosphere.

The owners of Twisted Noodles have done amazing things with obviously limited space and materials. The restaurant is minimalist in its decor and it's lovely, with a grey painted floor and plain tables. The food is really excellent. Have a Thai iced tea. The pineapple fried rice has seafood in it (watch out!) but it's truly excellent. Everything was good, including the appetizers. I can't wait to go again.
Pros: Excellent food
Cons: Weird location
