Hey fellas, instead of going to the strip joint; stop by Primp salon and bar. You can see all the azz on the boulevard for free. The owner as well as her FLUNKY staff walk around in short, short skirts with their azzes hangin out all day. It is best to catch one of them high or drunk....you never know you might even score at the end of the night.
Pros: short skirts, and a free lap dance
Cons: you have to pay for the drink while getting the lap dance

The owner of this salon acts as if she is drunk or on kocaine most of the time; I personally believe she is doing both. Her assistants are total flunkies and fakes. The owner likes to manipulate the staff and does not care how she treats her stylist. The atmosphere is nice, but it is in no way a reflection of the owner's character. I would advise a stylist that has morals and want's to work in a professional salon to definately NOT WORK AT THIS SALON. If people knew how bad this women treated her staff they would bypass to the next best thing. No amount of Plasma T.v's or Cheap wine can replace the attitude adjustment of this horrid, manipulative women...... "What goes around comes around"
Pros: located downtown
Cons: fluzies, bimbos, fakes, and bad attitudes

Primp Salonbar is a different place to go get your hair done especially if you're into hearing gossip while you're there supposed to be getting pampered. Those ladies working the front desk are totally unprofessional. When I walked in the door, no one greeted me... in fact, I over heard her conversation with her boyfriend I presume. How trashy is that? So unprofessional in my opinion!!! I've never felt that horrible in a salon, like I did that day I went. They were not even busy that day, but when I got there, I was overlooked on purpose I believe.. probably because I didn't fit there expectation of being as "beautiful on the outside" as the receptionist thought she was. I will NEVER go back to Primp Salon. People make it out to be so great... the only thing great about that salon was the plasma t.v.'s everywhere. I also noticed a blonde curly haired lady.. I think she may have been the manager, walking around with a short skirt on, and when she bent over to pick up something on the floor, all I seen was her butt cheeks.. I was so grossed out. I thought this was supposed to be a salon, not a club?? Just trashy in my opinion!!!! I could have swore she was on something.. she was very jittery and pale looking. Poor lady!! That salon is just NOT what people try and make it out to be. A friend told me a few other salons in the area, I should check out.. Marigold Parlour off of Seaboard and a new salon off of Glenwood Blades Studio.. I hear he is awesome.. I think his name is Alecks. Everyone should try those places and not step a foot in Primp.
Pros: nice set up
Cons: there all cons in that place... money hungry staff and not about the customer

I am amazed by Primp. I mean, there is only one place in the world you can go and be manipulated by a manipulatin' manager while hearing the receptionis talk about you as you walk through the door. I mean, i just love this place...you cant find skanks like that anywhere in Raleigh. I went to Primp 3 times, twice to get my hair done and once for a pedicure. First of all, when i walked in i guess i gave off this vibe of being to pretty because this wannabe Kim Kardashian atleast 40 yrs old (of course pretending to be 18 in some tiny little dress), workin as a receptionist gave me this look and didnt offer me a thing. To make matters worse i can see a young woman with curly blonde hair all jacked up running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I dont know if these people are on something or what is going on but the drama is too much for me. I will stick to my secret salon...o heck its no secret i have been goin to this man for 2 years now and i am so happy i can finally see him in his own salon. Alecks Blades, you rock. You are what primpin is realy about. You give the term trendy a new definition. If you are bitchy i wouldnt know it, if you do hate your ex0employees i wouldnt know it. As for all your other old friends at primp, they show it. They are rude and a very good friend of mine worked there are she was treated like dirt for her past. In return we found out the past she rehabilated and got past was the same present a few of the staff was living. Be smart and stay away!!!...Blades Salon is the way!
Pros: Pretty salon.
Cons: Everything that matters

Primp Salonbar is a very nice/trendy salonbar with plasma tv's everywhere and a nice bar, where you can have a cocktail. But, if you're looking for a friendly atmosphere, Primp is NOT the salon for you to go. Yeah, it's all posh and the feel of it is supposed to be like a salon in NY or LA, but when you walk in, all you see is beauty but the people operating the salon are about "self" and making money!! They are NOT friendly whatsoever. There were only 2 stylists that the owner Lainie Panos always recommended to new clients when they walked through the door. One being Alecks Eason, and the other Lisa. Ask me how do I know this, because I was an assistant at Primp for about 5-6 months, (getting paid under the table, might I add). Ms. Panos always showed favoritism with her staff. But, I will admit, Alecks and Lisa are the Best, as far as experience, and giving the client what they pay for. Alecks is no longer working for Primp, because he has his own salon off of Glenwood Ave. The name of it is Blades Studio, and he can be reached at 910.381.6908 If you want someone like Alecks, who has been in the business for about 7 years to cut and color your hair, you have the best person to do so in my opinion. He has been a rusk educator and platform artist in his time but he prefers the salon atmosphere, where he can ease the customer and give them one on one attention. He is extremely passionate about being a hair stylist. He also does make-up for special occasions, such as Bridal ceremonies and other special events. So in my honest and true opinion, YOU shouldn't cheat on your stylist and continue to go to Primp Salon, as there motto would say, but YOU should stay with your stylist, especially if it were Mr. Alecks Blades and continue to get your hair or makeup service done by him. HE IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS RIGHT NOW. I drive 2 hours one way every time I need a color or hair cut service. I wouldn't trust anyone else on my head!!!!

i started going to primp on the recommendation of a friend. I lived a block from it, and it was also a convenient place to run after work for a quick haircut or pedicure before the weekend got started. I have since moved further away, and still love going there. Everyone is always friendly when I go there. My appointment times are always kept - I never go there and have to wait around to get up in the chair. I got married a few months ago, and the manager and the rest of the staff was great at making sure that I had all the appointments I needed for myself as well as my bridal party, all the way up to touch-ups the day of the wedding. The nail technicians are great. Manicures and pedicures will last 2 weeks at a minimum without chipping or needing re-touched, and I work all day with my hands. And it's nice to be able to talk to the person that's painting your nails. Another reason to check it out is the overall atmosphere of the place. It's upbeat, playing good music while you're there, which makes it fit in with it's downtown location. And who can forget the bar?! It's so nice to be able to enjoy a glass of wine or a martini while getting a manicure. If you're looking for a great salon downtown, this is one definitely worth checking out!
Pros: Great atmosphere, good music, friendly staff
Cons: parking can be tricky, depending on the time of day of your appointment

What a wonderful place...upscale atmosphere, great tasting margaritas! I had hair color done here. The last time I had my color done (some where else...) the only comment I got at work was "did you do something to your hair?" After having my color done at Primp, EVERYONE noticed and three weeks later I am still getting comments on how great it looks, what a wonderful color etc. This is from co-workers as well as customers.. I will definitely go back.

I recently visited this place with one of my friends from NY. I wanted to show her that even little old Raleigh had something this cool. We were treated like queens. The owner/manager sat down with us and chatted like we were old friends and made us feel very welcome. The girl that did my hair, I think her name is Lisa did an amazing job with my blond color. I am definitely switching to this salon and will be a long time customer. This crazy guy with funky hair, Alex I think, worked on my friend and she loved her new cut! It was a great experience and within walking distance to Vin where we ate dinner after we treated ourselves to this experience.

We had planned a girls night out for "Tinis and Toes", so we made an appointment weeks in advance for our group. The overall experience was not a good one (to say the least). Not everyone got their pedicure and the ones that did were extremely rushed. There was even one technician going back and forth between two people. She accidentally cut someones toe while exfoliating, then proceeded to move to the other person without washing her hands or putting gloves on. Every person in our group that had a service stated that it was the worst pedicure they ever had. Overall, we each paid $60 for a big disappointment. Primp is unprofessional, unsanitary, and way overpriced.

Good pedicure, but really not any better than I get at my regular $25.00 salon! They do make good drinks, but that's not worth the price of being treated rudely. The technicians & stylists that I had contact with were very pleasant, but the owner/manager on the other hand could use a refresher course in what makes a successful business! It's not all about the pretty people ... you have to treat people well too! Perhaps she was just having a bad day? I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and try it again! For the most part, she came off as quite the snob and didn't seem at all interested in her customers.
Cons: Parking
