Exceptional food and service. Twice great meals. Was recommended by friends in D.C. Traveled from Great Britain and enjoyed meal better then anywhere else We tried while in the states. Five course tasting was perfect and unique. Great flavors and beautiful presentation. Came back on return a few days later and again exceptional. Enjoyed meeting chef Alan, very humble, funny and personable. Our waiter was excellent both times. Good Wine list. Look foward to return and recommend highly. Cheers!

Pros: excellent chef, unique menus & flavors, service!!

Cons: not in UK

BEST MEAL in area and one of best chefs in State if not Nationally. Based in Chicago, I travel all over and have always had perfect meal. Most recently at Per Se in NY ( AT RECORD $) Did not compare to recent meal in Cary. Great Restaurant Southern Star and now the Bistro, Chef is consistent, specials are great and Chef has large Local and East Coast following. Highly Recommended, Great wine list & service. I am always remembered and treated great. I question the So Called "Professional loser" in last review, Not even in same league! And Why?

Pros: great food and wine

Cons: decor ok

Like the title says; this is an Alan Batson restaurant for better for worse. Mr. Batson is an extremely talented chef, no doubt, and has been around Cary for quite some time now, however this restaurant seems to be almost identical to the unfortunately failed Southern Star. His style is no doubt unique, if overly complicated, but if you ever ate at the Southern Star you will be disappointed in the lack of freshness in Mr. Batson's menu. His plate presentation is nice, but a bit overcomplicated and could be toned down. The entree should be the main focus of a dish, not random sides and garnish. I always wondered why a place would hire a man to replace their menu with one that couldn't support his own restaurant. Bistro 64 is a great place to try once or twice. It would even make for a nice place to treat clients or out of towner's. However I would not recommend frequenting the establishment. Yes food costs are rising these days but you are getting overcharged at bistro 64. I buy from sysco foods and I can honestly say from a professional's opinion they can do it cheaper. Most people who say "my steak was over/undercooked" have no idea what they are talking about. People need to understand, if your food is "not cooked correctly" 7 times out of 10 a customer does not actually realize what they want, 2 times out of 10 your server probably forgot a detail, and 10% of the time or less it is a kitchen error. These guys cook dozens of steaks a night, they know the subtitles between rarities. (most people don't realize there are actually 8 ways to cook a steak. I'm sure mr batson does.) At bistro 64 YOUR FOOD WILL BE COOKED EXACTLY AS THE MENU/YOU SPECIFY. No doubt.

Pros: Great to try once, Awesome drinks, Perfectly cooked food.

Cons: Not worth the price, Redundant Alan Batson menu, Garnish takes away from the entree.

I went to Citysearch to locate the 10 best restaurants, and bistro 64 popped up. I visited their attractive website which realed me in. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and we decided Bistro 64 was the spot. We went on a Monday at 7. We had a very accomadating and knowledgable waiter, and the food was AMAZING. The chef is extremely talented. You HAVE TO try the Brushetta. I do not really care for Brushetta, but this was awesome, I wanted to come back the next day just for that alone. The pecan crusted swordfish was insane and Monday is half priced martini's. They have one of the biggest Drink Lists in the USA.!!! Romantic atmosphere and private. WILL BE BACK!

I have dined here twice in the past week. Both occasions where very private. The wait staff is unobtrusive yet remembered me on my second visit. The Mahi specialty was the best I have had in the area, the bread is unique as well. Their wine is is more than sufficient. The price is very reasonable. Oh, and the lounge singer is wonderful.

Pros: Lobster bisque

Cons: Non-smoking

Went with a friend last night for drinks but there was a lounge singer there. Now look - I have no problem with lounge singers, but be smart enough to put only 20 square feet of noise in a 30 square foot bar. (Give people room for conversation.) There was NO way to talk with anyone while the music was playing and/or the guy was singing. Not to mention everyone was having to talk so loud OVER it that it was even more obnoxious. I love the atmosphere of this place, but try some softer music - something acoustic maybe? The bar is much too small for amps or microphones of any kind. The last place I went to with that type of feel was Gregory's - and they were closed within 6 months.

This is a first-class fine dining restaurant in Cary, and we have never been disappointed. The service is always terrific. We love the live music at night in the bar. The soups, appetizers, entrees really feel chef prepared every time. The presentation of food is beautiful. The seafood is always fabulous. We loved this place so much that we held our wedding rehearsal dinner here, in the private room. They designed a personalized menu just for our group, and made us feel special. As a trained chef myself, I would put Bistro 64 at the top of places to eat in the Triangle, along with Second Empire, Bistro 607, and Fraziers.

I and three of my friends were on retreat. And we were staying at the Homewood Suites, we wanted to go some where nice and Bistro was next door. It was wonderful service, from the time we walked in until the time we left. I have to say we were the only 4 Black peopl in there and we were very pleased with the service, atmosphere, and food (wow...Tilapia......oh wow!). Edwin was our waiter, he was polite and patient. The staff was attentive and had great manners. I will definitly be coming back/ The prices were high, but it was worthit!

Pros: Wonderful atmosphere and staff

Cons: A little on the expenseive side

I too have dined at both the Cosmopolitan and now Bistro 64. While I agree that the menu used to be very similar(before the Chef change), I completely disagree that it is now "boring." On my last 2 visits, I have had escargot (for the first time and it was great), fois gras, scallops and lamb. Everything I have had to eat has been tremendous and the service is always excellent. If you have dined in Cary recently you will probably agree that the Bistro is head and shoulders above any other offerings we have.
