I asked a couple locals in the airport where I needed to go given this limited amount of time. One pointed me to a white table cloth place and the other to an "old shack down a small road on a gravel strip".....it's didn't take me long to know I wasn't going to go anywhere with a table cloth. The old shack really isn't that old and the road wasn't all that small and the parking was gravel....but it was a rental car so I didn't care. :-) \ The staff was pleasant and the owner (?) was quite fun to talk to. I didn't catch his name, but based on our conversation I'm assuming he was one of the ex-telecomers mentioned. He suggested the sampler platter which had brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken wing, greens, and hush puppies. My assessment of each is: - Brisket. Good rub and smoke flavor. A little too dry, but I was in early into lunch so they may have prepared for a lunch rush. I was the first customer of the day. I would get it again without questions. - Pulled Pork. OUTSTANDING! Great flavor and juicy. The sauce at the table was a perfect companion. I really wish I could get a few pounds shipped back to Texas. - Ribs. Good rub and flavor. A bit fatty, but very meaty. - Chicken Wings. The smoked chicken wings were very good. Very juicy and flavorful. I almost went back for a dozen wings and some pork to go, but I didn't know if my hotel would have a fridge in the room. - The greens and puppies were along the lines of most other southern restaurants. They were good and I'd get them again, but I wouldn't go back just for the greens......and there are places I would do that for. All in all, I was very pleaseed with Rub's Smokehouse. If I'm back this way again, I will definitely stop back by for a conversation and barbecue. The only issue I have is that they only have lunch house so I won't be able to stop in before my flight out tomorrow night.
Pros: Pulled Pork.
Cons: Hours limited to lunch time.

Rubs had some ownership issues and is now called Smokey's. It is still the same great food though. The meat is very lean and the sauce is unique. It's a bit of a mix of tomato and vinegar. Make sure if you are there on a nice day to take your food outside and eat on the picnic tables. Great food and great service.

Wow! Rubs can't be beat for BBQ and even better they cater. I moved here from Texas and didn't understand why people liked pulled pork until I ate it at Rubs. Now I actually like Carolina BBQ, though I go to Rubs for the ribs and brisket! The ribs take the saying finger licking good to a whole new high! Have lunch at Rubs and you'll understand my new obsession with Ribs! They just can 't be beat. Or if you can't come to Rubs, do what I do, call them to cater your next office lunch meeting or corporate picnic. The prices are as good as the food. You won't be disappointed!
Pros: RIBS, PORK, BRISKET -- and you can eat it indoors or out
Cons: Haven't found one yet!

I wanted to try Rub's for a while because the restaurant looks so cute from the side of the road. Boy, was I glad I did! The ribs were REALLY good! They have a really unique, complex, smokey, spicey flavor and they were reall tender. The sides of mac-n-cheese and green beans were homemade and really yummy. They were the best sides I have ever gotten at a barbeque restaurant and even better than Bullock's. The man who took my order on the phone was also really nice and helpful. The price was pretty reasonable too. I can't wait to go back. My only complaint is that they need to add evening and weekend hours. I guess they are so good that they don't need to. Give it a try!
Pros: great ribs, great sides, cute restaurant, nice service
Cons: limited hours

This is by far the best flavor of NC barbeque I have had. I have lived in a lot of diff. places and BBQ is one flavor that changes by region and I am not really a fan of soggy BBQ mixed w/vinegar sauce, which is what I have experienced a lot of in NC. NOT AT RUBS. The sauce is vingegar base but it has some flavor to it that is just amazing and the smoky flavor in their meat is the best. I highly recommend stopping in for lunch. They also do catering with other varieties of food and will be catering my wedding March. I will give an update on how that goes. If it's as good as the BBQ it will be awesome!

IF you are looking for a romantic setting....eat here first and then take a journey else ware. But if you are LQQKING for good BBQ and the fix'ins -- this is the place. I have enjoyed my meal each time and I keep going back. On a nice day you can take you food out-back to the picnic tables. Great for lunch but bring you appetite.
Pros: fast and good
Cons: Do not believe they are open on the weekends

Living in the triangle now for 22 years, I have eaten my fair share of BBQ. Rub's Smokehouse tops the list with their unique rub, mouthwatering sauce, and beef brisket to die for. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The ribs are tender enough they fall off the bone. The price is more than your typical fast food restaraunt, but for the amount of food you get, it's definitely worth it. The building, which has gone full circle from BBQ restaraunt to the Deli Box, has found the perfect fit...Rub's. The first time I went in there may have been a mistake since I can't keep from going back. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this restaraunt to anyone who is hungry enough to put down a whole pig. A+++
Pros: Fast Service, Unique Sauce, Great Atmosphere
Cons: Small Building

I just want to save anyone else from making the same mistake myself and collegues did for lunch when choosing this restauraunt. The ribs were not tender at all, very fatty. The dry rub had not much flavor and the rib sauce available was all vineger base. The ribs were pretty pricey too. I believe my tab including drink was around 12 dollars. We ended up going to a different restauraunt after "eating" at this one. Save yourself the disappointment and don't try this place. It has all the makings for a great BBQ place with its dumpy looking building and gravel parking lot.... but falls far short of being good.
Pros: Lemonade
Cons: Sweet tea was even ba

I've been a regular diner at Rub's now for well over a year. I even had them cater a party for some friends and family. The food is incredible, as is the service. You cannot go wrong dining here. Great, downhome atmosphere, too. We bring all out-of-town visitors here to sample the food. No one has been disappointed yet. Try the Rub's Sampler Platter...my personal favorite.
Pros: food, atmosphere, price/convenience
Cons: not open on weekends

Rub's offers its customers a throw back experience: country roadside building, casual dining tables, large selection of food and drinks, great value, quick and friendly service. I sampled the pulled pork and found it to be succlulent and well-smoked. The BBQ sauce is tangy and sweet. This is a must try for an authentic BBQ dining experience.
Pros: Quality Food, Value
Cons: None
