Thanks to everyone who helped put the bomb in Cherrybomb! I am pleased to announce that beginning in September I will be joining the collective of stylists and makeup artists at Marigold Parlor . This is an exciting opportunity for me both personally and professionally. I founded my salon 15 years ago with the goal of bringing out the unique beauty of each of my clients by combining color theory, aromatherapy, skill, knowledge and a strong sense of design. I will continue with that goal at Marigold Parlor as a freelance artist. As a customer you can count on the same great care and skill along with an increased level of attention and customer service. Marigold Parlor is the premier hair, color and makeup salon conveniently located in downtown Raleigh’s new Seaboard Station. Owners Jesse and Dustin have created a beautifully urban space with an emphasis on professionalism and creative collaboration. I believe you’re going to love being there as much as me—plus there is plenty of parking. I am super excited about my future at Marigold Parlor, and I can’t wait for you to visit us there! Sincerely yours, Carla Rea

I want to start by saying thank you to all my loyal clientel that i have had over the past 7 months at Cherry Bomb Studios. I have met some of the most diverse clients and it has been a pleasure to be able to accomodate all of their needs. I also want to thank Carla for giving me the opportunity to be a part of her dream that she has worked so hard to accomplish. Cherry Bomb is not only a name, but it raises the bar of standards for creativity, style, skill and passion for this industry. Carla has been the backbone and creator of Cherry Bomb, but greatness is not based upon only one person. Greatness is created by the peole that surround you. I feel that myself ,as well as others, have eximplified the standards that Carla and the "Cherry Bomb" name have set for the salon industry. Unfortunately, the "team" that has made Cherry Bomb what it is today, no longer exists. So, as each of us branch off on our own paths in life, we all hope that we can keep the same high standards for ourselves. There is one person in particular i want to acknowledge for her amazing talents and uncanny personality. Alexa's at the top of her game and always will be. She is now located at Boylan Heights Hair Studio. As for myself, i am taking a step closer to my own personal dream of freedom to express my passion for this industry. I will be working free lance at a salon downtown called "Atomic", and want more than anything for all of you to stay in touch. As for Carla, all i can say is, thank you for the time we have spent together. I hope you can take as much away from this experience as i am. I wish you success in every endevor you may have in the future. Always remember, greatness is not selfishly achieved, but it is respectfully created by those that surround you in every aspect of life... Brandon Reiter 910-274-1607

Does anyone know why Cherry Bomb is going out of busniess?? The rumors are everywhere... are they true??I have been shuffled from talented stylist to stylist over the past year . Is the owner the only one left? Please help me find a good stylist as I would never let her touch my hair.... friends have told me horror stories and she makes me feeel very un welcome. Plus see her out alot, guess she should have spent more time on her business.... Makes you wonder when she is the last one standing.... there was always some bad vibes when she was there. I am in desperate need... does anyone know where all the talent went? Please post!

Pros: my old hair dressers and friendly service

Cons: Superiority vibe given off by owner

The male hair dresser damaged my hair beyond repair! He smelled like smoke and was extremely full of himself.

I read an earlier review on this site and have to say I was extremely surprised. I have been going to Carla at Cherrybomb for over 5 years, and am now over 50. Cherrybomb is extremely comfortable and accomodating to those of us on the mature side, and knows how to make us leave the salon looking ten years younger. I know many others in my age range who are Carla regulars as well. The experience is always like a retreat-- good conversation, beautiful surroundings, and great services. Carla is one of those rare things-- a true artist who is not a Diva. I have complete trust in her instincts with respect to my appearance, and I cannot say that about any other service provider I have used in my adult life. Usually when a person is as capable as she is in this field, some interesting personality charactersistics accompany the talent, but not so with Carla. I've been in the salon when some difficult situations have occurred with customers, and Carla has always handled them with the political savvy of a Captol veteran. I've told Carla that I hope she will neve leave Raleigh-- because she is irreplaceable! --Simmie Kastner, Managing Director, Burning Coal Theatre Company

After having a HORRIBLE experience here, it only serves justice to the masses to let everyone know that unless you have nothing INSIDE your head and are willing to let the "Mistress and Color Expert" Carla Rea (self proclaimed titles by the way) have her way with the OUTSIDE of your head, you should AVOID here at all costs! Carla is RUDE, (actually told me I had no idea what I "effing" wanted) when I was SPECIFIC to say I wanted highlights only-she wanted to DYE it with a Demi Perm Butter something..They only want folks who are willing to give up ALL creative control and let her ruin your style or color with something she wants (and if you saw how bad HER haircut and color was, you would LAUGH!)..Don't do it! Not only will you pay dearly upfront (they are expensive) but you will pay dearly in the end...Anyone who says they love this place clearly hasn't any sort of respect for themselves or is willing to be stepped on for "creative purposes"..Brides, you will be crying on your wedding day..really!! Everyone we've talked to since has avoided them like the plague and hopefully people who missed the multiple negative posts on here that Carla somehow got retracted will see this soon! Save your time, hair and money..for a good color, try DS Parada...if you want the Aveda approach-take the time to head to the training institute in Chapel Hill where you really will get what you ask for at a fraction of the cost! Mini facials and many other touches are FREE!!! (And no thanks for your offer to have me come back to remedy my disgust with your salon or you Carla..I would never let you touch my hair again!!!!!)

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Location, condescending owner, do not allow you to have a say

I rate this salon Five Stars PLUS. My color and cut were awesome, and exactly what I needed to leave feeling renewed. The staff worked with me on my makeup as well as the Aveda products I needed. I even made a follow-up appointment to have my eyebrows done. The salon atmosphere was very nice- open and eclectic. I LOVED Carla- she has so much expertise to offer her clients... if you've ever wanted your "very own" personal stylist, go see her! She understands trends but knows what and won't work, and the color she did for me was awesome. I'll go back again and again. I've lived in Raleigh for 2 years and have been searching for a total package salon... this is it!

Pros: Expertise, Aveda Products, Total Package- cut, color, makeup, products

Cons: Parking- the restaurant next door should lighten up a bit!

My poor mom just came home crying from the hair appointment my sister set up for her at Cherry Bomb. THE HAIRSTYLIST REFUSED HER SERVICE! She says the hairdresser was named "Gerta" , and was very rude to her. She did not smile once. My mom said she wanted something stylish but proffesional for work, and the hairdresser asked what my mom did. My poor mom said she was a teacher, and the lady sneered. Then my mom said she would be more comfortable talking out of her hair in front of the mirrors where hair actually gets cut, rather than the lobby. The hairdresser stood up, said snidely, "This isn't happening." And walked away. I used to get my hair cut there 3 or 4 years ago and it was a nice place, but it sounds like the service has gone downhill. At the least I would stay away if you are middle aged or older, or not a hipster perhaps.

Pros: Trendy

Cons: Rude, Refuse service at their whims

I scarcely use citysearch, but i was looking for a salon in raleigh and this one looked just perfect. At first I was a little iffed by the price ($60 for a cut) but Ive seriously havent had this great a cut in along time and i have very difficult, very damaged hair. Extreemly relaxed, friendly atmosphere. THANKS BRANDON!

This is the best place in raleigh if you want the current styles adapted to suit your individuality. Carla is an artist and does the best cut and color hands down. Not only that but she makes sure it is easy to maintain and style on your own. Highly recommended!

Pros: cutting edge style suited for the individual

Cons: none- I have been going there for 3 yrs and have never had anything but the best service and style
