I was really looking forward to going to Susan for my wedding dress fitting based upon all the rave reviews. I knew she was going on Christmas vacation, but I thought it would be worth waiting a few weeks. However, I ignored the warning 'be wary' or 'beware' signs. While ignoring all the minute details of the unpleasant interactions via telephone and the bridal fitting visit, the fitting itself was not spectacular, nor was it professional. In addition, Susan said that she would do things for free, like fix the supposed broken zipper and hem the inner slip. After all the 'free' hemming, Susan still gave me a quote that was twice that of a reputable tailor in Raleigh. Duke's Tailors in Raleigh did a splendid job. Duke's Tailor also gave me more options for hemming. Most importantly, they gave me a fair price and showed me their price list a priori. Furthermore, I was not charged for a zipper that never needed to be replaced in the first place! Go to Susan if you want to pay twice as much for less professional work. Maybe she can do suits well, but brides beware.

Pros: Just a few blocks from where I live

Cons: Price and quality of bridal fitting

Susan was excellent! Her service was fast and her attention to detail is impecable. I was 7 months pregnant and needed a bridesmaids dress taken out. She took the time to really look at all angles of the dress and did several minor alterations that ended up making the dress fit and feel much better. Best of all she was fast and up front about her pricing. I would definitely return!

Attention to detail. I took my husband's ripped suit pants. Susan wasn't even open, but she was there working and let me in anyway. Then she repaired the pants on the spot. Talk about service! Thanks Susan. Rarely do you find people so dedicated to serving their customers these days.

Not only gowns but suits also: I lost some weight and my Armani suits had to be refit so-tospeak to my new size. A good friend sent me to Susan's and I am glad he did. The work was done expertly, professionally and delivered promptly on time. They beat all men's tailor shops I have tried by a wide margin! I recommend this establishment to all executives in need of some "take-in" or "let-out" alteration jobs on their expensive garments. The owners Mrs. Fifi and Mrs Susan are friendly, helpful and sure experts at what they are doing. Never mind the cost, it's worth it.

Pros: Thumbs up. They are the town real alteration experts

Cons: Pricey but you get what you pay for

I had 2 days to get an alteration done on a gown from Saks 5th Avenue. I was desperate and found Susan on citysearch--thank goodness she was willing to take the job on! Not only did her workmanship match that of the quality of the dress, but she finished the work in under 3 hours! It fits like a glove; she was as accommodating and understanding as could be, and has won my business for life.

Pros: Quality, Speed, Kindness

Cons: Expensive

Lest anyone think this shop handles only women's apparel, I was very pleased with the work that Susan's did on fitting some off-the-ra*k trousers to my distinctly dumpy male anatomy. The service is not cheap -- @$100 for three pairs -- but the work was delivered on or before the promised time and the pants fit very well. Courteous and friendly service, highly recommended. Open Saturdays for we working folk. (By the way, a "ra*k" is where trousers normally hang in a menswear store, but the politically correct language filter on this review service has a dirty mind.)

I'VE HAD NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCES SINCE I'VE MOVED TO DURHAM. UNTIL NOW! SHE IS THE BEST!!!! NOT ONLY IS SHE TIMELY, SHE DOES THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WORK. I'VE SENT ALL MY FRIENDS AND THEY ARE JUST AS HAPPY. SAVE YOURSELF A BAD EXPERIENCE AND GO TO SUSAN. PLUS SHE HAS A BEAUTIFUL SHOP OF CLOTHES.

Susan took my straight from jcrew wedding dress and did an excellent job tailoring it to fit. She knows dresses, makes clear recommendations, and works quickly (less than 2 weeks during summer wedding season to do some complex alterations). I would absolutely recommend her work to anyone (but would particularly send brides to Susan with a dress that you need to be just right but you're not sure what exactly needs to be done).

Susan does fabulous work. I have taken many items to her and am most impressed with her ability to preserve the hem on designer jeans I purchased w/ a distinctive hem. She will either save the hem or match the tread...whichever you ask her to do. She is a saviour!

I had a bridesmaid's dress that was two sizes too big, and Susan did an amazing job of tailoring it to fit me. It was ready well before she said it would be, and the dress looks fabulous! I am so pleased to have found someone in the Triangle that performs such high quality work, and I will go back to her for any and all alterations I need from now on!
