After being referred by work friends to Akashi, we wanted to try the place their owner started in- Shiki. Honest assessment is this place is better for a date as far as money spent on decor and was indeed doing much more business than Akashi dreams of (at least at night, which is when we go). Shiki half price has been explained to me in another thread by a devotee of Shiki (yes, I'm one of those people who 'can't grasp' the concept). Bottom line the whole thing is shady and too much trouble for dinner in my book. Give me a price- if you're giving me a discount, give it to me by the item, or by the total, but not by Algebra. Seriously. Waitress was not helpful or attentive and the tables at least in our section were too close together. Seems like these two restaurants are warring almost for the RTP business - I'll take the low class ambience of Askashi in exchange for the food and the hospitality. Just my two.
