The owner is wonderful! However, the night time management needs some improvement. My family loves the food. In recent visits, from our observations, we have come to this conclusion. They have never done anything to us and we will continue to eat there. Our service has always been great as well. I hope they never treat me the way I've seen some people being treated. My advice - work on the management before you start losing business. Everyone should go and try it though. It is one of the better places to eat in Raleigh.
Pros: Service and Food
Cons: Management

I love NY & NJ pizza and this place has the closest thing to it. I've read some of the negative reviews and I have to say that it's kinda sad what some of these people are saying. Every time I have gone to Piccola I've received nothing but excellent food and service. Don't believe the negative hype, this place is great!
Pros: FOOD

Best pizza south of the mason-dixon. Hand's down. If you're from NY or NJ, try this. All their food is good (that I've tried), though, so it's worth a few visits or call-in orders. Service is alright, and the atmosphere matches the service, but the food is absolutely worth it.
Pros: Best pizza in the triangle, Outdoor dining
Cons: the atmosphere won't amaze you, but it's alright

I have been going to this restaurant for 3 years now, and until the last two visits it was my favorite restaurant. After the incompetence of the waiters (2 different waiters) and managers I will NEVER go there again. There were huge spiders at our dinner table during one meal, and seems that it's the waiters number 1 job to forget to put in the food orders, not once, not twice but THREE TIMES. It was completely ridiculous that during both of the past visits we have had to ask for our salads, remind the waiters to refill our drinks and to finally bring out our appetizers (which come after you've finished the main course). This past visit was the worst because we had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for our food and when it came out it was WRONG! When I confronted the manager all he could tell us was that " its statistically impossible to have two bad experiences at a restaurant" and that" I don't want to make up stories so I'll just apologize". Statistically speaking it won’t be a problem ever again, because they won’t have a third chance to mess up one of my meals. After everything , all we received for these very unfortunate experiences was a stale dessert that we were not even allowed to pick out and the comfort of knowing that we would not be charged for the order we refused to eat because it was wrong. I have never experienced a worse visit to a restaurant and hope no one else is subjected to the horrible service and management at this facility! Although I sadly admit the food is delectable, but no where near the trouble it takes to hassle it out of the waiters and manager. Please don't waste your time!!
Pros: the food
Cons: everything else except the food

there have been many times that i have gotten horrible service at this restaurant....and it is all involving the management.... well i shouldnt say the management because the owner is a wonderful man and is always there everytime i come in for dinner.i went in for dinner and like the first review said it was just like jerry springer.the son punching his obviously older man that is his father.a young dark haired woman was crying and screaming (this girl has been rude and short many times with me and friends that have come in separately).only making the situation worse.i will not go back until these people have had time to mature and grow as professional adults.its one thing to fight within the family but another to be violent and disrespectful to your father. I keep going back because the food is so good but i dont think that a restaurant should be rewarded for behavior like this. i have worked in many restaurants and it is stressful! but be adults and take it somewhere private. these are people who obviously dont care about their customers. i have tried to avoid posting this but it was the last straw for piccola italia
Pros: wonderful food.
Cons: horrible management

The food is usually pretty good, but the management is awful! I believe its the owners son and his wife, very disrespectful and rude. My family and I were setting there eating and next think I know the son is beating up his father. My kids were scared to death. I would never recommend this place unless you want to feel like you are in a Jerry Springer epsiode.

I've lived in the triangle for 11 years and going to Piccola since I arrived. The garlic pizza is to die for. They also have excellent calamari. I'll miss this place tremendously should we ever move. And, if I could figure out a way to get the recipe to that red sauce I would! Great place to eat. Family friendly, and worth the dollar.

This past weekend, my girlfriends and I visited Piccola Italia for the first time. I have to say that I was truly impressed with the food and service. I ordered a dish called the Rosaria, and it was a blend of penne pasta with scallops, shrimp, and sun dried tomatoes in a pesto/wine sauce. It was so delicious, and I'm still not over how good it was! My girlfriends ordered calzones and strombolis, and they couldn't stop raving about how fabulous they were. The bread on the calzones and strombolis was so good, and you could just tell that they had to be home made! Even the soup that came with my entree was delectable! I've never been to a restaurant where my entire party has completely enjoyed everything! Even on a weekend night, we still received excellent service. The wait wasn't bad either. For a group of six, we only had to wait about twenty minutes to be seated. The place was very inviting on the inside, and even the host and hostess made sure that we had a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend this place to any and everyone. If you have kids, I'm sure they'll love the pizza and pasta! If you're an adult and you're looking for a nice dinner date or just a good time with friends, Piccola Italia is the right place for you. (I forgot to mention how good the chianti is!) I will definitely be returning, and I will definitely tell everyone I know about this place!
Pros: delicious food, excellent service

I recently visited Piccola Italia with my husband. We had been looking for a good Italian restaurant for a long time. I ordered the chicken parmagiana and it was the best I've ever had on the east coast. My husband ordered a pizza, and I have to say that it was the best pizza we have ever had in North Carolina, maybe even better than the pizza we had in New York and New Jersey! The bread served with entrees is home made, and all the sauces are home made too. The owner came to our table and he was so courteous and made sure our dining experience was a most delightful one. They have an extensive wine menu, and our server was great at recommending things to try. Our drinks stayed full, the portions were huge, and the place was romantic and cozy. The desert menu was excellent as well. All in all, we had a great dining experience at Piccola Italia. We will definately be back with our family and friends! Bon Appetit!
Pros: Great food, wine, desert, and service; Very inexpensive
Cons: None

I went Piccola Italia last weekend with the girl I'm seeing. We were looking for Italian food in Raleigh and thought we'd try this place out. I ordered Pasta with Italian sausage. I couldn't find any sausage on my plate, just a slight pink color to my red sauce. My hunger was such that I didn't argue but I was pretty disappointed at their attempt to put sausage with penne. It seems their idea of Italian food is throwing pasty tomato sauce on everything in sight and dropping it on a cafeteria plate for you to enjoy. We had to ask for bread (at an Italian place?) and it tasted like they had just picked it up at the nearby Harris Teeter. No, that's not a good thing. Out waiter was slow and barely visited our table. If you're looking for something a few notches down from the Olive Garden on the bland-o-meter this place is for perfect. The only decent thing was that it fairly cheap for two.
Pros: Fairly cheap.
Cons: Bad food, bad service, cheap interior.
