Editorial Review for Neo-China – by Neha Shah
In Short
Graciously shunning the typical too-bare-and-brightly-lit Chinese restaurant atmosphere, Neo-China convinces diners to skip the takeout and stay awhile. With its stone pieces and modern art paintings, there's almost a museum-like feel inside. Recommended items include the chicken with mushrooms, shrimp with lobster sauce, or shrimp and vegetables over angel hair. Top off your meal with a healthy serving of lychee (Chinese fruit).

I wasn't very impressed by the food. The chicken fried rice had almost no flavor. It didn't even have onions in it, or bean sprouts. My boyfriend had the sweet and sour chicken, which was okay. The sweet and sour sauce wasn't very good. I'm really not a picky eater and usually you can't screw up sweet and sour chicken. I just wasn't impressed. We might as well stick to the hole-in-the-wall take-out place by our house for better "basic" Chinese food.
Pros: None
Cons: Not a lot of flavor to the food

This is my favourite modest priced restaurant in NC, and I have been coming here for more than 8 years now and it simply gets better and better! The food is amazing and the service is always friendly and gracious. The staff takes a real interest in their customers and remembers my children by name (note to waitstaff: this is an awesome way to score a bigger tip!). The hostess is very kind and charming and the entire staff makes the place feel like one big family. The selection of food is wonderful, with veggie dishes and all meals can be spiced the way you prefer. One reviewer complained about the egg rolls; I have found that their veggie rolls are the best that I've had ANYWHERE! The seating is prompt and very comfortable and the prices are reasonable. This is a great restaurant to take the kids, a perfect first date, or when the realitives are in town. I simply have no complaints! As for it being "American Chinese", well, if you want "real" Chinese, you need to head to Beijing. I am half Chinese and I love the food. It's one of the best in North America and beats anything else in NC. Try it today!
Pros: the food (this is the best Chinese in NC), the waitstaff, the comfort level, everything!
Cons: absolutely nothing!
