Editorial Review for Quail Ridge Books – by Scott Ross

In Short
The store is large but cozy, and the pace is gentler than you'll find at the big chains. Look for the fireplace beneath the painting of Reynolds Price. There's a vast array of fiction and biographies, with an emphasis on local and regional writers. Mysteries, books on film, history, gay and lesbian titles are also well-stocked. The booksellers are friendly and helpful. And there's a former reference librarian on call to answer difficult book-related questions.

I live in Durham, but I find myself in Quail Ridge on a very regular basis. They are always having some great readings/signings by my favorite authors, and they always do a fantastic job of being organized and efficient while also being homey and inviting. I also signed up for the email newsletter, and I enjoy Nancy's comments on what she's reading. I find out about a lot of wonderful books that way! My parents also love Quail Ridge... They drive 2 hours from South Carolina for many of the events, and because my dad is an educator, he gets a free membership in their discount club. It's a great value for them, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I would recommend this store to anyone!

Pros: Staff, Selection, Atmosphere

Cons: It's in Raleigh. :(

I have been a customer since the early days at Quail Corners Shopping Center. The service has always been the best...you can go in with partial title, only the author's first name or a vague description of the book---and they can still "name that book". With discounts for the readers club, and regular sales for the members--prices are great. Nancy has created a book lovers heaven!
