Editorial Review for Flying Burrito – by Neha Shah

In Short
This cozy corner eatery marks the spot for some of Chapel Hill's best Mexican fare. Families and singles mesh comfortably in the dining area; the pinatas and crepe paper add color to an already festive scene. Creative combinations give the menu some flair. Share the Mexican Train Wreck--but be sure to order chips with it. Take risks and taste the daring concoctions, including the signature flying burrito that appears in many forms.

Insider Tips

You Haven't Lived

Until you've tasted these fishy concoctions: fish tacos made with blackened tuna, fried scallops and fried oysters; tacos stuffed with grilled cactus and mushrooms; and the State Fair taco--chicken tequila sausage with sauteed peppers and onions.

Where To Sit

Choose from a variety of seating: picnic benches, booths or an outdoor table. Socialites may prefer the bar (hearty margaritas are a mainstay here).

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I ordered nacho's and a tapas plate with scallops and blackbeans. Either one would have been plenty of food by itself. The nacho's were on the better side of average. The scallops were big, tender and not overcooked, which doesn't sound like the highest compliment, but most times I order scallops they are tough and overdone.

Pros: good value, lots of choices

the place has been a long time dwelling for chapel hills students, locals etc.....however lost its way and has now returned as the simple good food it should be. Had the catfish burrito it was very good, fish was crispy and not overcooked like times before. The remodel was a very big success and cant wait to go back

Pros: great food

Cons: ????
