Editorial Review for Gold's Gym – by Drew Pisarra
In Short
The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.

I've been a member of a few gyms in my day and this is the cream of the cake. From the outside the club doesn't appear to be very large, however once you step inside it is GIGANTIC! I've been a member for 2 years now mostly kept to myself. There was once about a year ago I had a question about my monthly payment and I spoke to the managing partner at the time. I wasn't that impressed with his customer service skills. I decided to stick it out and needless to say it paid off in the long run. I've been away for the past month and I just met the new manager (Dakota) and he is fantastic. I came in to tell him that my membership was suppose to be frozen for a period of 4 months and that I was still being billed. At first I thought it would be impossible for me to get things straightened out. I had heard so many horror stories. Anyways, he sat with me, listened to my explaination of what happened and simply said "OK I can fix this for you". I was blown away at his response. So at the end of the conversation he not only credited back the 4 months of my money to my membership but he also gave me an additional credit for my troubles. I was so impressed that I am bringing my friend in tomorrow to sign up. I love this gym!!! Check it out.
Pros: The staff and management!
Cons: Parking

Nice facility & equipment. Knowledgeable trainers. Horrible general management and membership policies. In it for the money.
