Zely & Ritz Tapas Restaurant & Bar

Raleigh's Favorite Tapas Restaurant & Wine Bar

  • Take Out and Large Parties
  • Extensive Wine List
  • Online Reservations

Zely & Ritz is all about fresh, organic, locally grown dishes served in tapas style small plates (so that you can order several and share) in an upscale, casual, yet hip and smoke-free environment. Chef Sarig uses Mediterranean and Middle Eastern spices in unexpected ways to create fantastic culinary works of art paired with the best boutique wine list in Raleigh. Nancy?s wine selections are the perfect complement to a fantastic meal. At Zely & Ritz we believe the best food comes from local farmers that we know produce quality organic produce and hormone and antibiotic free meats. We buy locally and organically whenever we can. Zely & Ritz is also the perfect location to host your large party. We can accommodate up to 20 people at our communal table or up to 50 people if you reserve the entire restaurant. Reservations for lunch are available for large parties or corporate functions.

Editorial Review for Zely & Ritz Tapas Restaurant & Bar – by Kristine Forrest Seawell

In Short
Colorful, creative and confidently cool, this restaurant takes advantage of its prime Glenwood location. Many of the sleek black tables--each adorned with a red flower in a small bud vase--offer a view of the nightlife outside. In a refreshing twist on trendy decor, nothing distracts from quiet conversation here; the art on the walls is fun, but guests can focus on each other instead of on the room itself.

Insider Tips

Where to Sit

If you want a view, request a table by the front window. Socialites might prefer the large communal table by the bar.

What to Drink

The restaurant offers an extensive wine menu, as well as a delectable dessert wine list.

Know Before You Go

Parties unfamiliar with tapas should know that appetites will be satisfied if each person orders a dish from each list on the menu.

Save Money

All wines by the bottle at half price on Mondays and five dollar martinis every Thursday.

The Extras

Chef Sarig Agasi creates dishes that are small in size, but large in flavor, while his wife, Nancy, selects wine for the notable list. Together, the two have created a fantastic dining experience. Appetizers are unforgettable; the tuna carpaccio provides a light, tangy start. For heartier fare, the salmon with citrus sauce has a buttery crust that gives way to flaky fish.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I had to try it when I found out they use only organic ingredients, and most of the vegetables come from a local organic farm. I found the food not to be overly complicated, the ingredients are the star, and everything was perfectly seasoned. I wouldn't call it a Tapas restaurant, sure they have a few different small "bites" plates, but the menu also consists of several starters, entrees, sides and desserts. The prix fixe is the best deal if you plan on a full meal. Choices are very varied as well, I found Mediterranean dishes on the menu such as hummus alongside Southern greens. This restaurant now ranks up with Enoteca Vin as my 2 favorite downtown spots.

I love this place. The services is fabulous, organic dishes are wonderful and they always have thoughtful and decent wine choices. Great girls' night out or date night restaurant.

Pros: The whole package; good food, service and atmosphere! I love that they grow many of their own veggies and fruits and that they are organic.

Cons: parking is always a challenge on Glenwood. I wish this restaurant was in a different location
