Editorial Review for Champa Thai & Sushi – by Alex Leviton
In Short
Located in the Brier Creek Commons, this Asian-inspired restaurant's atmosphere is upscale and elegant with an intimate gray and yellow-hued dining room. Champa serves gourmet versions of spicy Thai soups, grilled seafood, sushi and classic noodle dishes such as pad thai to local office workers and shoppers. Standout dishes include a spicy beef salad called Tiger's Tear, the lamb in basil sauce and the catfish in ginger sauce.

My boyfriend and I stopped by Champa two weekends ago and it was awesome! Even the the soy sauce was out of this world. And the warmed saki was very smooth and almost sweet tasting after tasting the sushi. We will be back there soon.

If it the service was a lot better, and prices a little less, there would be no reason to complain. Every visit has played out exactly the same. The waitresses/waiters all walk around aloof. Food takes too long to come out. Each time, it was at least 10 minutes before even our drink orders were taken. Its been up to 30 minutes before an appetizer/meal order was taken. For the most part, the sushi is inconsistent. It ranges from bad to pretty darn good. I have had burned tempura and crab in rolls as well. There has been instances where the texture of the fish has been off. But when it seems like the chefs want to pull it together, its actually very good. Mura and Waraji are both offer much better service and the food is always great.
Pros: Sushi is great when the chefs are on the ball
Cons: Service, Inconsistent Sushi
