Editorial Review for Ted's Montana Grill – by Jennifer Olvera

In Short
Lots of mahogany, tin ceilings, metal crown molding and Arts and Crafts-style décor prevail at this casual, comfortable saloon, part of media mogul Ted Turner's domain. Beef and bison are king, and they're hand-cut on site. Other bites include beer-can chicken, bison prime rib and cedar planked salmon. For dessert, there's home-made cookies, Kahlua fudge brownies, Coke floats and strawberry shortcake.

For a first time visit, I was not impressed at all! The waitress could not seem to get drink orders and checks straight. There seemed to be a major lack of communication between the kitchen and the wait staff. I had to order 3 times because they ran out of the item I had ordered. When I received my meal the side item was wrong. The food was average, but the other five people at my table finished their meals as I started mine.... I really thought the manager would comp some of the meals at our table because they also ran out of my friend's first choice. When we received our bill I was charged for a higher cost meal than I had originally selected. What a mess! The manager offered to take $3 off the bill- which still didn't seem right. We were also charged for drinks that we had not ordered. After some discussion the manager finally agreed to comp my meal. The waitress offered coffee on the house- big deal- I don't even drink coffee.... The manager was defensive and somewhat argumentative..... The first visit will definitely be the last visit for us and our friends... I usually don't have time to write reviews, but after last night's visit I felt like I should let others know what their visit might be like......

Pros: crab cakes

Cons: poor service and rude management

Honestly, the food is pretty good. The service is just horrid though. My husband and I have been there several several times - but the Service is HORRIBLE! We have finally decided to stop going.
