Editorial Review for Wasabi – by Kristine Forrest
The Scene
Sushi fanatics and late-night diners finally have a chic place to socialize, thanks to this cozy restaurant in Cary's MacGregor Village. Inside, the colors are soothing and subtle; rich patterns and caramel-colored wood give the space a gorgeous glow. The dining area itself is divided into separate rooms, which is good for an intimate feel--yet can make the noise seem cloying on busy nights.
The Food
With a menu crammed full of Thai dishes and sushi rolls, how could you possibly choose? Best bet: sample both. Start with the lusciously sweet tom jha, a Thai coconut soup with bits of seafood. Crispy spring rolls, packed with cabbage, celery and noodles, are surprisingly light and flavorful. The sushi selection is vast enough to please beginners, with the basic California or vegetable roll, but Wasabi's sushi chefs have created enough new concoctions to keep hardcore fans interested. Go for the fiery wasabi roll, which comes with its own powerful sauce--or the Mary roll, which arrives with a spicy mayo sauce ladled on top.

This restaurant hopefully won't last...With overpriced sushi, slow kitchen service, hostile waitstaff and management who could care less, the establishment is surpassed by other notable Japanese restaurants such as Sushi Thai in Cary, An and Mizu....Don't waste your money as you can get better food without having an unpleasant dining experience....Being a frequenter of local sushi restaurants and a business owner myself, it is a shame that one can have such a negative experience and to be treated with the amount of disrespect that I have been treated here. It is truly disappointing.
Pros: Average sushi
Cons: Service, prices, ambiance, management, tiny space

Sushi with Attitude?? You bet. I just got back from this restaurant and could not wait to write this review. This is the third time I've been and experienced horrific service. I've noticed that the service has been getting increasingly worse as time has gone on. I used to love this place... and still do love the sushi, but I will not be going back.... ever. Britanny was the straw that has broken the camels back. I'm pretty sure she forgot to put the order in, and after we waited about 45 minutes we asked if the food would be out soon and she responded with attitude. The food then took even longer to come out and we then approched the manager. The manager confronted brittanny in front of us and this made the situation worse. The rest of the night she seemed to serve us with resentment. This ultimatey forced me to appologize to the guest I had brought. It also forced me to leave the worst tip I have ever left. I had a discussion with the manager after we departed and she seemed less than concerned about our experience. The moral of the story is.... Go to Sushi Thai instead.
Pros: Sushi is good and less expensive than Sushi Thai
Cons: Horrible service, Expect attitude from non-ethnic servers.
