Editorial Review for Brixx Wood-Fired Pizza – by Dorette Snover

In Short
Brixx is a frolicking emporium rich in color, smoke and beer. An industrial atmosphere greets you as soon as you step inside; large air conditioning vents snake and hover over the dining room as if to spurt out little pizzas of their own. Brixx's pizzas are wood-oven crisp, with an almost cracker-like crust. The Rustica pizza is robust with prosciutto, mushrooms, artichokes and roasted garlic. Tiramisu is generously layered, creamy, and spirited with espresso.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

An early crowd, heavy on the kids and the pepperoni, later transforms into a swarm of Tar Heels ordering artichoke and barbecue chicken pizzas.

What To Drink

Belgian Blue Moon Ale is rich in coriander and orange and gently offsets the flavors in the generously portioned Brixx Salad (goat cheese and toasted pine nuts in balsamic-laced greens).

I always crave this pizza, and I'm from Chicago, so I always go here at least 3x when I visit my sister here in Chapel Hill. I highly recommend it. My favorite is the Quattro Fromaggio and the BBQ Pizza. They also have interesting selections such as Gorgonzola Peach pizza. Lots of good choices, huge selection of beer, etc.

A friend of mines gave me his pasta and this dude can eat, so it was so strange that he'll give it to me, especially since he likes to eat! When I'd ask him if the dish was good he said yes it was, so I ate it just because it was given to me. What a waste of my time. The pasta was supposed to have some cream sauce on it, but it was as dried up as the basil tomatoes in it. I love all kinds of pastas and once a place makes an impression on me, if the place is far I make it my business to visit the place at least once a year, but not with this restaurant.

Pros: parking

Cons: Loud not a date scene.
