Editorial Review for Lewis BBQ – by Taylor Davenport
In Short
Don't expect much when you walk through the door--Lewis's interior is as humble as its small brick exterior: Just a square room with some plastic-coated booths, a tiny cafeteria bar and a line of die-hard barbecue fans. Tangy shredded pork packs a peppery wallop and is served with a choice of soul food sides from coleslaw to hushpuppies to mac 'n' cheese. Lewis' greens--collards, not spinach--gracefully compensate for other cholesterol-laden indulgenes.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoFridays and Saturdays the joint dishes out fresh fish including croaker, catfish, flounder and trout. Desserts change daily, but you can count on Lewis's popular honey-bun cake, an almost legendary sweet roll that's homemade by Mr. Lewis himself.

The best thing about the restaurant is the people that work there. The food was okay, but not great. Nothing really stood out about this dining experience.

Come for the food. Good wood smoked carolina 'cue, wet ribs, fried chicken and fish and a range of country-soul sides. It's all great, but right now I'm having trouble ordering anything but the ribs. You'll find your favorite too - or just order the combo.
Pros: Ribs, Chicken, Barbeque
