Editorial Review for Doce – by Taylor Davenport

In Short
Doce effuses new Italian with a red-scripted, wall-mural menu and olive oil bottles gracing every table. If you dare show up during the lunch rush, you'll find yourself standing in line with other attractive 20- and 30-something professionals, waiting for a chance to try something different for a change. At the salad bar: Field greens, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, feta and orzo pasta. At the hot bar: Substantial entrees such as spinach phyllo, lasagna, sliced beef tenderloin.

Know Before You Go

The menu changes daily, but you can always count on an oversized panini served warm with prosciutto and fontina on slabs of crusty country bread (a real deal).

Doce has new owners as of last fall and they're still putting out similar delicious mediterranean style food with a few new ideas. There's fresh paninis, salads, daily specials. Try the chicken salad - it's the best. The new owners are friendly and the place has a relaxed feeling that's great for a quick lunch or a meeting with friends. Doce does catering too. I used them for a few events and was extremely pleased with the presentation and overall service!

Pros: fast service

Doce is my favorite place for lunch in RTP. After the loss of their original chef, Nate, David and Caroline struggled to fill those shoes. No longer-they are back! Oscar is preparing food the way that Georgio intended and Nate would be proud, too. The hot foods are wonderful, they offer some great sandwich specials daily and I can always count on their fresh salads. Although their hours are from 11-2 weekdays, ocassionally I will drop in before 11 and grab a breakfast burrito and a coffee. I frequent doce often and have never left there dissatisfied. Doce has catered all of the events I done over the last 4 years. Their sandwich trays, hot entrees and salads are second to none and the service is as expected. Thanks for being there!

Pros: Good parking, In and out in 30 mins
