Editorial Review for Sawasdee Thai – by Kelly Ferguson

In Short
Forget Chinese zodiac placemats and the plink of koto music--Sawasdee combines hot colors and quirky decor for a unique look. Tangerine walls and velvet curtains create an eclectic yet homey space. The kitchen features both the expected fare (spring rolls, green curry, pad Thai) and house specialties. Portions are large; the sa-tay chicken could feed a village and the spicy catfish's crispy textures excite the mouh with savory flavors of chili and basil.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

When driving down Capital Boulevard, note that the strip mall marquee says "Thai Restaurant," not "Sawasdee."

The Extras

The entrees are mildly spicy, those who want the top of their head smoking can request the kitchen to "make you cry."

I love this place! Not all the food is excellent, but most everything we have had is. My husband loves the Drunken Noodles. I'm partial to their spring rolls and the catfish is divine! Some things we have tried are just so-so, but mostly everything has been delicious and nothing has been bad. The decor is kinda weird, but less offensive than most strip mall places. Look for the saign that says "Thai Restaurant" not "Sawasdee" or you will never find it.

Pros: really good Thai

Cons: location & atmosphere

We love this place for Thai and eat here quite a bit. Last week we brought our dinner club here and everyone loved it. The food was delicious!! The wait staff is friendly and efficient. And the Tom Kha soup is out of this world. Thanks for accommodating such a large group (12).

Pros: Food, Service

Cons: none
