Feeding on the alternative craze of the early '90s, Live had hits like "Selling the Drama" and "Lightning Crashes," two of the smash singles from their 1994 release "Throwing Copper." Weighty lyrical content (covering topics such as personal epiphany and solemn requiem) backed by Live's signature dark sound proved the right combination for superstardom. Bono-influenced vocalist Ed Kowalczyk adds the instant energy to drive the outfit to the point of transcendence.
