Editorial Review for Occoneechee Mountain State Park – by Ginny Yu
In Short
Climb to the highest point in Orange County (867 feet), while taking in rare plant and animal species unique to the region. The park features trails and fishing. You can find rarities such as the brown elfin butterfly as you walk through the park. Catch a largemouth bass, bluegill or red-ear sunfish from the two available ponds. But leave the wildlife on the land alone--no hunting or trapping is allowed. Be alert: Nature can strike back.
